Aluminum 5052 forgings have a chemical composition of 2.2% to 2.8% MagnesiuAluminium 5052 is a non-heat-treatable alloy that mainly consists of aluminum and magnesium (2.2–2.8%), along with trace amounts of chromium (0.15–0.35%). This composition gives it remarkable corrosion resistance, especially in marine and challenging environments. Its mechanical properties include a tensile strength of about 210–260 MPa, yield strength ranging from 80–200 MPa, and elongation between 12–25%, depending on the temper. It boasts good formability, moderate hardness, and exceptional weldability, making Aluminium 5052 forgings perfect for applications that demand lightweight, strong, and corrosion-resistant components. m, 0.15% to 0.35% Chromium, 0.25% max Zinc, 0.1% max Copper, 0.4% max Silicon, 0.4% max Iron, and Aluminum being the balance. This alloy is characterized by high anti-corrosion properties, especially in marine environments, and good weldability. Mechanically, its tensile strength ranges from 215 to 290 MPa, with yield strengths around 130 MPa elongation depending on forging conditions; it extends evenly from 12-20%. Besides the property of good fatigue resistance, it has moderate strength, making it suitable for the construction of structures, pressure vessels, as well as the manufacturing of products, automotive components requiring high durability and resilience.

Aluminum 5052 offers excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, good weldability, and formability. It's lightweight, durable, resistant to stress cracking, and performs well in marine and industrial environments, making it ideal for custom forgings.
Aluminum 5052 is not ideal for high-temperature forging applications due to its relatively low melting point and poor high-temperature strength. Alloys like 7075 or 2011 are better suited for such applications.
Aluminum 5052 has excellent workability, making it suitable for forging. Its low-to-medium strength, good corrosion resistance, and formability allow for ease in shaping, reducing the risk of cracking during forging.
You’ll find Aluminium 5052 forgings commonly used in marine and shipbuilding projects, such as hulls, decks, and various marine structures, thanks to their impressive resistance to seawater corrosion. They’re also utilized in the automotive and transportation sectors for fuel tanks, panels, and structural parts where strength and durability are crucial. Moreover, this alloy finds its place in pressure vessels, piping systems, and industrial equipment that face corrosive environments. Its blend of high corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability makes Aluminium 5052 forgings incredibly versatile for demanding applications.
