Nitronic 40 bar and rod is a high-performance, corrosion-resistant alloy with an approximate composition of about 72% iron (Fe), 20-24% chromium (Cr), 5-7% nickel (Ni), and 2-3% molybdenum (Mo), and trace elements of manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), carbon (C), and phosphorus (P). This alloy exhibits superior mechanical properties: tensile strength, 85-110 ksi (586-758 MPa); yield strength, 45-65 ksi (310-450 MPa); and elongation of 30-50%. Being quite resistant to corrosion, especially under marine and high-temperature exposures, Nitronic 40 has been the popular choice for several applications in marine and chemical industry.
