OHNS is the abbreviation for Oil Hardened Non-Shrinking. OHNS round bars are an alloy of high-carbon steel for tool making and heavy-duty applications. It generally contains the following elements in its composition: Carbon 0.90-1.05%, Manganese 0.30-0.60%, Chromium 0.90-1.20%, Vanadium 0.10-0.15%, with traces of Silicon, Sulfur, and Phosphorus. The typical mechanical properties include hardness up to 58 to 62 HRC after the heat treatment, good wear resistance, and toughness. It offers excellent dimensional stability after hardening and is suitable for making tools, dies, and molds subjected to heavy loads. Its tensile strength generally ranges from 850 to 1100 MPa.
